Frequently Asked Questions

What is prayer?

Prayer is an active effort to communicate with God either to offer praise, to make a request, confess sins, or simply to express one's thoughts and emotions. Engaging in prayer allows us to admit needs, cast aside pride, and be dependent upon God.

What is a prayer request?

A prayer request expresses the need an individual has for others to pray for his or her wants, needs, trials and persecutions. Prayer requests provide a setting for people to express something that is often forgotten nowadays, a geniune care for others. We believe the power of prayer is multiplied when individuals come together in one voice.

How does the world map work?

On the main page of this website you will see a world map. The stars on that map relate to prayer requests that have been submitted. If you hover over a star you can read the title of the prayer request. If you click a star you will be taken to a page where you can read the prayer request and begin to pray for it.

Note: If you cannot see the world map on the main page you need to download Flash Player 9. It is available at http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer.

Cool! How do you find the location of the prayer request?

When a person submits a prayer request, their IP address is automatically entered into our system. An IP is a unique number that computers use in order to communicate with each other on a network. By using an IP we can find the approximate latitude and longitude (generally within a 30 mile distance) of a prayer request. Using the latitude and longitude, a star is placed on the world map.

Does this mean that you know where I live?

Of course not. Though our system is complex, it's not extremely accurate. At the very most, it will only tell us what city you live near. Once again, we do not release this information to anyone.

Why do you require my email address?

Email addresses are required for two reasons. First, you need to verify your prayer request by clicking a link that is sent to your email address. This is required so that users do not exploit our system or email addresses that do not belong to them. Secondly, visitors to the website can read your prayer request and inform you that they are praying for you by clicking a button on the page of your request. When this button is clicked, an email is sent to inform you. A verification code is required to be manually typed into a box before this button is clicked, so do not worry about being spammed. Likewise, we do not release your email address to a third party that may use it for spam purposes.

Does prayer actually work?

We believe that it does. Though answers to prayers may not always be ideal, we believe that all prayers are indeed answered. If prayer did not work, we wouldn't bother creating this website.

What now?

Go ahead and submit a prayer request. If you're not up for that just yet, please feel free to read prayer requests that others have submitted and pray for them. Most of all, have fun!
