Our BlogA True Prayer"Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." - James 5: 16 (KJV) The Bible says that when someone confesses a fault to us, we need to pray for them. It also says to “Confess your faults to one another”. All of us have faults and we need to lose our “Holier than thou attitudes”. The verse does not say to judge or to point a condemning finger; it says to pray for each other. If we are just criticizing and judging, and do not pray for that person, then we need to keep quiet. If we were to be honest with each other without fear of being rejected and ridiculed, we would have a lot less heartache in this world. There are many times when we get angry with someone and say something hateful to them. The Bible says that it is okay to be angry; it does not say that it is okay to say hateful words back to the person who hurts us. A true prayer comes from our hearts. We need to pray for that person to feel the Love of Jesus in their hearts and lives. Remember, it is not our responsibility to change a person. Only Jesus can change a person’s heart and life. Sometimes, even with the best of intentions, we get in the way of Jesus working in someone’s life by our critical and harsh words that we say to that person. Words of criticism turn people away from Jesus, instead of turning their hearts to Jesus. I have received several emails in the last six months regarding this issue. Let’s start praying for each other, and then allow Jesus to change the person’s heart. The Final Authority"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." - 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 (KJV) I have received emails from people who wanted guidance and instructions about certain things in their life. I told all of these people to go to Jesus because He is the final Authority. The Bible is our blueprint for life. If we can’t find the answer to what is troubling us in the Bible, we need to turn to the only one who has the answer and His name is Jesus. Others can advise us but it is only their opinions. Many people have asked me how they can know it is from Jesus. If we will keep our hearts in tune with Him, then we will be ready to receive from Him. That doesn’t mean that we are perfect. There is only one person who was ever perfect and His name is Jesus. We are to strive toward perfection but as long as we are in these earthly bodies, we will never be perfect. The most important thing to remember is that if someone tells us something that does not line up with the word of God, then we need to be very cautious in taking their advice. We must confirm what they have told us with Jesus. He will either say the advice is good, or He will say do not listen to that advice. If we will keep our hearts and minds focused on Jesus, we will not only make Him happy, we will get in a lot less trouble. If today you are struggling with an issue and can’t feel at peace about it in your heart, take it to Jesus and let Him be your final Authority. He is the answer for every problem and heartache that we have. He will be our guide if we will allow Him to lead us. Our Anchor"The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever." - Isaiah 40:8 (KJV) Often in our lives we have trials and heartaches that we have to go through, but we have an anchor, our blessed Saviour, who will keep us from drowning. When there is no rain for a long time, or there is too much rain, the flowers and grass fade and wither. It is the same with us if we don’t have a steady diet of the Word of God. Sometimes our strength grows weak, and our determination falters, it is then that we need to cling to Jesus, our Anchor in the storms of life. If we are unable to run to Jesus, or even walk to Him because we are hurting so badly, then we need to crawl to Him, or ask someone to lift us up to Him. It does not matter what heartache, problem or crises we are facing, the Word of God is true and will stand forever. Many people scoff at the Bible and at those who believe it. Get a rope and tie yourself to the anchor of love, Jesus. As long as we are anchored in Him, all hell can come against us but we will be held safe and secure by His Love and faithfulness. Is your strength weak today? Do you feel that you aren’t able to go another day? Turn to the only one who can give lasting comfort and support. Yes, Jesus is our blessed anchor of hope and safety.
